Individuals can sometimes be supported through change by family friends or partners. Read the case study below, then complete the activities.
Scenario: Naomi, aged 68, has been married to Leroy for 42 years. Recently, Naomi’s younger sister died from cancer. Her illness had been short. Naomi is struggling to cope with her loss. She has an older brother, Clive, and two children, Grace and Declan, who all live close by. Naomi has many friends with whom she and Leroy socialise regularly.
1 In a small group discuss the types of support Naomi may need from her husband, children and/or friends to help her cope with the loss of her sister. Write notes from your discussion below.
