Brochure: Abusive Relationship Resources Assignment Summary
For this assignment, you will create a brochure about the local resources and Internet resources available
for people struggling with domestic violence and abusive relationships. The information in this brochure
needs to be useful for your audience, and all resources should be evaluated for validity.
Background Information
Domestic violence can happen to any gender. It is defined as a pattern of abusive behavior that is used
by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. Domestic violence
can be physical, sexual, emotional, economic, or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence
another person. Domestic violence can cause injuries, anxiety, changes in eating and sleeping patterns,
and effects on the victim.
Assignment Instructions
For this project, you are expected to submit one thing:
1. A brochure that provides information on at least five local and Internet resources for abusive
relationships and domestic violence victims
Step 1: Prepare for the project.
a) Read through the guide before you begin so you know the expectations for this project.
b) If there is anything that is not clear to you, be sure to ask your teacher.
Step 2: Research local and Internet resources that assist domestic violence victims.
a) Speak to your school’s guidance counselor for suggestions.
b) Call local hospitals and medical centers to ask about local community resources.
c) Look for local hotlines or organizations that help domestic violence victims in your area.
d) Evaluate the validity of your resources.
Step 3: Complete a trifold brochure.
a) Provide detailed information (address, phone number, services provided) about five resources for
domestic violence victims.
b) Your brochure should use space well and include content on all panels of the trifold brochure.
c) Your brochure should include appropriate pictures that are related to the information provided.
d) Your brochure should follow the trifold brochure format as displayed in the image below.
Step 4: Evaluate your brochure using this checklist.
