He signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, and throughout his career, Robinson distinguished himself as a talented player and a vocal civil rights activist. In 1955, he helped the Dodgers win the World Series. He retired in 1957 and died in Connecticut in 1972.

Jackie Robinson was given a tough time with many other people treating him with disrespect because of his race. One of his famous quotes is," I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me...
