Smoke contains very toxic components. When a pregnant woman inhales smoke, all of those components combine through her blood supply very effectively; into her lungs. Elements of smoke have adverse effects on placenta, which is a direct source of nutrient and oxygen for babies. Thus smoking can lead to miscarriage during pregnancy.
