The city has reported an epidemic of strep throat which has led to panic among your patients. There has been an increase in patients scheduling appointments, many of which may be unnecessary. The clinic has been seeing almost double the number of patients daily due to concerns about this bacterial infection. Many of them display minimal or no symptoms and test negative for strep throat. The overload of well patients is taking time away from the providers' treatment of those that do in fact have the infection.
