Some parts of Asia that include India have castes which define ranks in traditional social categories. The Dalit are called untouchables and face oppression and discrimination against members of higher castes. There are four main castes.  

The Dalits' role in society is to perform the tasks higher caste members or religious groups deem spiritually tainting. In Hinduism and Buddhism, dealing with dead bodies of either human beings or animal is considered bad for spirituality, therefore, member of the lower class have to deal with such jobs.
