C. The great depression scared many people away from the United States to the difficulty in finding jobs or maintaining a healthy life. In 70's and 80's, production of goods and other things drove up the demand for labor, as seen in the graph. Most Asian workers who came to America did so in order to send back money to Asia in order to support their families. They thought that this would be more beneficial then staying in Asia due to the extremely low pay.
