Beyond Neptune's orbit is the Kuiper Belt. It's a high traffic area, to say the least. Several hundred thousand KPOs orbit the Sun there. A KPO, which stands for Kuiper Belt Object, is
larger than 20 miles across. Pluto is 1,473 miles in diameter and also orbits the Sun in the
Kuiper Belt. Pluto is a dwarf planet because it's much smaller than a planet. Even though
Pluto is smaller than Earth's moon, it has five moons of its own. It takes Pluto 248 years to
orbit the Sun.
