This period lasted for about 2,580,000 to 11,700 years thus is most recent and is known for the repeated periods of the glaciation that occurred on the earth. It's the first epoch in the quaternary period.  And shows us the marine deposited sediments that were primarily influenced by the glacial fluvial deposits formed by the moving glaciers.,  where glaciers covered the earth about 30% of the surface was in ice layers. Andes mount was also covered by the ice caps. New Zealand also had glacier terrain and over 11 major glacial events have taken place since then the Co2 got trapped in the ice.
