Mediterranean - warm, wet winters under prevailing westerly winds and calm, hot, dry summers.
Semiarid -  very little annual rainfall, usually from 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50 cm) 
Arid - usually the land is barren or unproductive because of lack of moisture
