While many think of Europe as the pinnacle of "culture" and "society" as well as the nucleus of civilization, Europe has a rocky history that only recently became stable in terms of pushing aside national conflicts with neighbors and internal unrest. How is that Europe has become this pinnacle, globally? This is to say, why do most countries (perhaps set aside the US) see European countries (namely those in Western Europe) as the basis for the ideal contemporary civilization?
