The Lamprey River is a 50 mile long river that flows from Meadow Lake in Northwood , through Raymond and ends in Newmarket where it enters Great Bay. Sections are very wide (more than 30 feet) and others are less than 20 feet. The average velocity of the water in Raymond, at the old mill site, is 20 feet in 16 seconds, or 1.25feet/sec.
