The country has a lot of natural resources, many of which in very high amounts and among the largest in the world. Also, Australia has a location that makes it both isolated (though in a positive manner nowadays) and a leader of a region.

Being one of the biggest economies in the world gives Australia an immediate good standing globally. It has excellent relations with all of the major global economic powers, but also with the majority of the developing and less developed countries. Close alliances with countries with which it shares history, like the UK, USA, Canada, and New Zealand give it a major ally in crucial parts of the world.
