Bangalore, the Garden City of India, has recently become a home to scientific research and government investment in universities, engineering schools, and technical colleges. These include India's most advanced military and space research programs. Though few people in India own computers, Bangalore's exports in computer software are second only to the U. S.
Improved telecommunications have made it possible for American companies to contract with Indian software firms. The city of Bangalore had a difficult time keeping up with its growth because of the successes of the computer industry, and many high-tech companies have moved to the suburbs where housing, water, power resources, and recreational facilities can be provided for their employees.
