The sun is a star that is in the middle of the Solar System, the 8 planets from our Solar System orbit the Sun. If there was no Sun in our Solar System then are Earth would have no life because the Sun provides heat, warmth, and energy for us to live. Our Sun is 5 billion years old and the hottest part of our Sun is about 15,000,000*C. Energy is created in the Sun's core, it travels very slowly to the Sun's surface before it takes a SUPER SPEEDY trip to Earth in the form of Light and Heat. It takes about eight minutes for light to travel approximately 150 million km through space to Earth.
