Generally heavy rainfall triggers landslide as the water increases the pore pressure of the soil, rocks or debris. The particles get easily disintegrated and later slide downward.

Earthquake which is the shaking of the earth surface can also trigger landslide . An unstable slope (steep or vertical slope angle) can easily experience landslide when earth quake occurs.
