Mudstone: is a fine-grained sedimentary mudrock, originally constituted of clay and muds, its grain size is 0.063mm, with an increase of pressure from above the clay minerals can be aligned, and this material splits fairly into thin material called as shale.  

Fine sandstone is composed of quartz and feldspar as they are the most common elements. Being fine-grained thy can filter more pollutants than other rocks that have crack and crevices.

The difference between them is that sediments can be created from a sandstone i.e the natural processes of weathering and erosion such as chalk and coal, mudstone is more moisture absorbent and wet as compared to the sandstone which is relatively a more dry rock on touch.

The main difference between all of these is the size varies, as higher the energy of the deposits the difference will be in texture. like limestone is more porous it has a loose texture, the angular rounding of the objects like pebbles indicates the nature of formation and place of origins such as a lake or pond.
