The Amazon rainforest is located in South America, more specifically in the northern half of the continent. It is located around the equator which passes through it. This rainforest spreads out on the territories of the countries of Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, and Guyana.

There's lot of things that are unique about this rainforest, some of which are:

- it is the largest rainforest in the world, occupying 5.5 million square km

- it is the place on the planet that has the highest biodiversity in both plant and animal life (margay, anaconda, tapir, jaguar, marmoset, ungurahui tree, walking palm, rubber tree...)

- this rainforest is the largest producer of oxygen on Earth

- the largest river that runs through the middle of this rainforest, the Amazon, is the river with the highest water volume on the planet

The Amazon Rainforest ecosystem is found in both the tropical wet and tropical wet and dry climate regions of South America. The region is warm year-round and receives constant precipitation, usually over 100 inches of rain annually. This region is often referred to as the lungs of the planet because it produces over 20% of the world’s oxygen. The Amazon is the largest rainforest and has the greatest concentration of diverse plants and animals species in the world. It is home to over two-thirds of the world’s plant species, including bromeliads and a variety of ferns and vines. Animals in the Amazon include large creatures such as jaguars, tapirs, and anacondas. There are also small animals across the rainforest, including thousands of species of insects.
