The civilizations of Mexico and Central America were destroyed with the arrival of the Conquistadors. This region has had numerous civilizations when the Conquistadors arrived, and they were relatively well developed. These civilizations were well organized, vibrant, had well developed agricultural, political, social, trading, societies. Unfortunately fro them, they also had lot of wealth, especially gold and silver, and that was exactly what the Conquistadors were after. Having superior weapons, and also helped by the diseases that they unintentionally spread among the natives, the Conquistadors were merciless, and they totally destroyed these civilizations.
