Geo-politically, there's five countries in Central Asia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. All of these countries, after their independence, became very centralized. Usually the capital, and maybe one more city, were developing rapidly, but the problem was that all of the countries became centralized, and everything was focused in this few places, while the other parts of the countries saw no investments and were left in bad condition. This resulted in economic difficulties, because most of the countries were living in poverty since there were only limited number of jobs available, people started flooding the big cities, and that was very quick process, which made the big cities face with poverty, bad urbanization, grow unplanned and disproportionately.
