Question one
For part A I think that it is going to be 0 < x < 8
Then part b the y- intercept is the point where x=0 is the beginning point or the length of the fish after 0 months.
Part c - i think 0.40 represents the average growth of the fish in cm from 2 to 8 months .
questions 2
part A- in month 0 the fuel cost 2.96.For every month that passes the fuel prices is the previous months prices multiplied by 1.04 . so because of 1.04 being a greater number than one each fuel thing increases .
If you have an item at say price p and you multiply it by 1.04 to get 1.04p the price now is 1.04p which is the same as p+ 0.04p . p is the original price to which i would have to add 0.04p but i would add it as a percent 0.04p is 4%of p so multiplying a number by 1.04 means adding 4% of that number to the number or simply put a 4%increase .
Part b - So i would divide the new number by the old number and subtract one then multiply by 100 . so
Month1 to month 2 would be
3.22 / 3.04 =1.0592 5.9% increase
Then month 2 to month 3 would be
3.41 / 3.22 = 1.0590 5.9% increase
Month 3 to month 4 would be
3.61 / 3.41 = 1.0 5865 5.9% increase
Therefore fuel b showed a great percent in price but each increase month to month is 5.9%for function g where as for function 4 it is 4%
question 3
Part A - for option one the type of this function is liner think because the series of interest earned increases arithmetically in 110$ per year but then for option 2 the type of function is exponetional because of the series of interest earned increases geometrically in $1.09 per year .
Part B - The option one refers to a simple interest with a function f(n) = $1000+$100n
the option 2 refers to a compound interest with a function f(n) = $1000*(1.09)
Part c - After 20 years she would get : in option one f(20) =$1000+110*20=$3200
in option 2 f(20) = $1000 * (1.09) =$5604.41
I think there is a significant difference between these options because the interest earned through compound interest accrues on the principle amount and the accumulated interest of previous periods .
Question 4
Part A- it is given the x- corrdinate is the station number and the y- coordinate is the time in minutes since the start of the race that she completed the task
(1.3) ,(2,6) , (3,12) , (4,24) so the time is 3 ,6 ,12 , 24 . first term would be equal to a equals 3 and then common ration is going to be equal to 2
Part B -Ts=3 x 2 ^8-1 which is the required recursive formula to determine the time the required time she will complete station 5
=t5
=3 x 2 ^5-1
=3 x 16
=48
Part C - time she will complete station 8
=t8
=3 x 2 ^ 8-1
=3 x 2 ^ 7
=384
Time she wll complete station 9
=t9
=3 x 2 ^ 9-1
= 3 x 2 ^ 8
= 768
