what does esau give away and why was that so wrong?

PART A:

Esav came from the fields famished and asked for food. "Esav begs for food, as he is about to faint. Jacob tells him to sell him his "birthright". Esav comments that his birthright is worth nothing to him as he is about to die. Then Jacob makes Esav swear to sell the birthright. Esav agrees. Then Jacob feeds his brother, who eats and leaves pretty upset."

PART B:

it was wrong of Esav to sell his birth right because his brother Jacob was not fit for the birthrights and it was not something you could just sell for food.

What Esau gave away was his birthright, as the first born.

Want to know what he traded for it?  A bowl of soup.

Now lets go in depth:

Jacob and Esau were twin brothers, with Esau being born first. But, when Jacob was being born his hand was holding onto Esau's heel. Back in that day and age, this was a sign that Jacob wanted to be born first.

Before Esau's birth, the Lord told Rebekah that her older son would serve the younger son:

"23: And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger." (Genesis 25:23 KJV)

Next, the matter that is in question:

One day Esau went out to hunt, just like most days. After a unsuccessful day of hunting he returned.

"And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:"

 Esau then asked Jacob for food, to which Jacob said:

" And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright."

Foolishly Esau agreed to it, mainly because he was only thinking of the now rather than the huge inheritance that Issac, his father, would give him.

For one bowl of soup, all of his inheritance would be given to Jacob.

Also, God truly did intend for Issac to give the inheritance to Jacob, but because of the way that Jacob tricked Esau he was forced to steal it. That is what is and was wrong.
