In the myth of Prometheus and Pandora, both characters break the rules that had been imposed on them: Prometheus steals the fire from Zeus and Pandora opens the box that should not have been opened. Finally, in Frankenstein, it is Victor who breaks the rules. The rules he breaks are those of nature and science, as he attempts to create a living being. We realize the experiment was a bad idea when we see the suffering the creature feels and the destruction that it causes.

Therefore, all three stories support the idea of only seeking progress in a way that conforms to society's rules.
