He reports that he saw an arm rise up, grab the sword by the hilt, and drew it under the water. With these words, Arthur knows he is telling the truth and actually did return the sword to the Lady of the Lake.

Of the possible answers given, the first is not correct. Sir Bedivere did not hide the sword. Rather, he followed the king's instructions and threw it in the lake.
