How does jing-mei’s mother transform over the course of the this passage. form pages 135-144

I don't have my stupid springboard on me, but I know that Jing-Mei's mother pretty much gives up mid through the story and she becomes very disappointed and towards the end they come to an implied truce "agreement" when the mother gives her the piano. Hope this helps
