During the eighteenth-century travel, narratives were the respected and most popular literary genre. It included the description of monuments, geography, and foreign lands customs. The travel narratives proved to be as unique as the great number of books were published and were outselling other works. The soldiers and citizens due to technological advancement had an opportunity to travel throughout and record their experiences. Further, it increased the interest in the public to grow knowledge regarding the distant culture and regions.

Hence,  travel narratives were popular in 18th-century Europe because people were excited to learn about other cultures.
