A day at the park
Is just what we need!
Grassy sofas, leafy cushions,
Tall bark recliners,
Warm granite footstools,
Red flower carpets,
And glassy pond rugs, blue and white.
But when we arrive
Lazy guests
With manners like rats,
Have left their foul tracks
For somebody else.
“Yuck!” my brothers say,
Their faces falling
In total disgust at the mess.
Punting paper plates,
I say, “Chill out, guys.
We can pick it up.
We’ll play a treasure-hunting game.”
A scavenger hunt,
Willing kids
With trash bags and gloves,
Committed warriors
Ready for battle.
