Once Mulla Nasruddin had gone to the Emperor's court to resolve a complaint, the matter was a simple one and was soon sorted out easily. Suddenly the emperor thought of having some fun. He asked the Mulla, 'Mulla Nasruddin, suppose God is pleased with you, 'What do you want-brains or wealth- which will you choose?" "Wealth of course," said the Mulla promptly. "I don't believe this," the emperor exclaimed. "You are known to be a man who lives a simple life and yet you ask for wealth? I thought you were intelligent, but you seem to be quite foolish with respect to your desires. Any amir can give you wealth, but only God can give you brains." Mulla looked placidly at the Emperor and then said, "Your Majesty, what would you ask from God? Brain or wealth?" Confidently, the emperor replied, "Well, I would certainly ask brains. Obviously, if you have brains, you have everything." The Mulla's face puckered into a grin. "Yes, your Majesty, I can understand what you say. A man will always ask God for what he doesn't have! I don't have wealth, so I will ask for wealth. You have wealth, but brains..." and the Mulla stopped short. He was now smiling broadly. summary writing on the above paragraph
