Create a slideshow presentation describing how you would design three or more squares for the quilt that would represent our country after the events of September 11th. Your definition of our country will include specific characteristics and traits of the country after this tragedy, supported with specific examples and evidence from your own experience and research about the events and country post-9/11. Keep in mind that, depending on your background knowledge of the events of 9/11, you may need to conduct brief research on the tragedy to ensure you have a well-rounded understanding of what took place. Consider the following questions as you are creating your slideshow. You may choose to use one or more as a starting point for the quilt you are designing.

What is your personal definition of tolerance? Do you feel that tolerance is a characteristic of America now? Was it a characteristic immediately following 9/11? Why or why not?
What changes did the people of America experience as a result of the tragedy? Were some of these changes permanent?
Do you believe that our country's stance towards immigrants changed after 9/11? Why or why not? If so, explain.
Are there certain characteristics of America that remain unchanged, even after the events of 9/11? Explain.
Additional requirements for this presentation are given in the project, including the use of literary devices, dynamic media usage, proper formatting, and MLA-formatted citations.

Read the passage below and answer the question that follows. ‘you make me feel uncivilized, daisy,’ i confessed on my second glass of corky but rather impressive claret. ‘can’t you talk about crops or something? ’ i meant nothing in particular by this remark but it was taken up in an unexpected way. ‘civilization’s going to pieces,’ broke out tom violently. ‘i’ve gotten to be a terrible pessimist about things. have you read ‘the rise of the coloured empires’ by this man goddard? ’ ‘why, no,’ i answered, rather surprised by his tone. ‘well, it’s a fine book, and everybody ought to read it. the idea is if we don’t look out the white race will be—will be utterly submerged. it’s all scientific stuff; it’s been proved.’ in this passage, tom’s ideas about race relations come off as uncivilized. what literary device is fitzgerald using here?
