The arts make the world a better and happier play to live in by using different types of techniques and forms of performances to engage our world. The arts is a part of everyone’s life, whether it be visual, performing or literary arts. These arts include forms of music, dance, theatre, drawings and paintings. Some pieces of art convey significant emotion, through symbolism, the evoking of feelings, the aesthetic of the piece, or simply through a sentence. What the arts can do is bring many different people and cultures together, allows people to share their beliefs and stories with others and can create peace to the world.
In this world, there are many different cultures that are unseen to most people, the way arts make this better is by allowing people to show and express their culture in different forms of art. The arts allows those such as Aboriginals, Latin Americans, Koreans, Greek and many other old original cultures to show their self to people who would not know much or anything about them. The more that is shown by a culture then the more we can know about it. Those from different cultures often travel around or when tourists visit their countries show off their culture with arts such as visual or performing arts. Art is the expression or application of creative skill and imagination typically shown in a visual form such as in a painting or a sculpture. Art matters because it is not only used to express yourself, but to learn to identify the mental state of others. Humans have been making art since the beginning of time and art has become an important aspect of our society. There is art in almost every direction you look, so it is no surprise that art has had such a large influence on our society. It can impact what people think, how people feel, and what they do. Art reflects life. Therefore, art has played a large role in how we view specific historical events. It captures a country's culture during different time periods. Rembrandt, Rousseau, Monet, Georges Seurat, Hogarth, Whistler, Jan Steen, Frans Hal and Brueghel all illustrate the world as they see it from their generation. These artists have affected the future society by giving a brief, but comprehensive and imaginative depiction of everyday life. Pieter Bruegel the Elder often painted peasants, also known as the lower class. Thomas Eakins, the painter of  The Gross Clinic, provided historians with clues and pictures of a vastly different way of life, showing us what the surgical theater looked like in the nineteenth century. Jan Steen’s The Eve of St. Nicholas gives us a way to revel in how Christmas was spent in the Netherlands during the early seventeenth century. In Georges Seurat’s painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, shows the life of the higher class in the nineteen fifties. As you can see, art gives us an accurate view of life from a different time period, and a new perspective on historical events. Along with this, art can also give hope to carry on. Art has done more than just give us insight into the past, it has also encouraged people. For example, it has encouraged patriotism and national pride.
Bob Bryant, the Executive Director of Fine Arts for Katy ISD in 2000, emphasises the importance of utilizing art in schools’ curriculums: “The arts are what make us most human, most complete as people. The arts cannot be learned through occasional or random exposure any more than math or science can” (Bryant). Art is a way of expression and leads to acquiring a deeper understanding of the details in life. The first day of preschool, teachers teach through the help of art. This is due to the fact that art is the foundation of a child's learning. Art is a way, where one can explore their ideas and thoughts. Creativity should neither be contained nor limited. Art is an outlet used for people to show who they are. The aspect of art is carried along in each generation. Different cultures use art to show who they are as one. Art appeals to people's senses and emotions, which helps people connect with one another. Since art is an essential, integral part in a student's academic learning, schools should make art classes mandatory.
