Write a script for a short skit with a simple plot and a clear theme. Your skit must run for at least 10 minutes and include some kind of conflict that is resolved by the end.
Make use of dramatic conventions, especially dialogue and stage directions, to
convey the story and theme.
You can think of your skit as a stand-alone play or a scene that takes place in a
larger play, as long as it has its own individual plot. In other words, it must have
some kind of conflict that leads to a climax, although the rising action and most of
the exposition may have taken place before this particular scene begins.
As you work on your script, you need to develop a definite theme. You may have one
of your characters state this theme explicitly in dialogue, or you may suggest the
theme through the action alone.
Your assignment should include the following elements:
• Stage directions that set the scene and convey information about characters'
speech and actions
• Dialogue that sounds like natural speech
Other dramatic conventions, as needed
• A clear progression of events that contains some kind of conflict, climax, and
resolution
• A consistent and recognizable theme, whether it is suggested or stated explicitly
You should have completed a draft of this assignment in the activity before this one.
If you haven't done so, go back and complete that activity now.
