Title of poem : The Monkey's Point of View Three monkeys in a coconut tree Discussing things as they're said to be Said one to others, "Now listen you two, There's a certain rumor that can't be true, That man descended from our noble race. The very idea, it's a dire disgrace! No monkeys ever deserted his wife, Starved her baby, ruined her life. And you've never known of a mother monk To leave her baby with others to bunk. Or pass them on from another one to another Till they hardly know who is their mother and another thing you'll never see A monk build a fence around a coconut tree And let the coconut go to waste Forbidding all another monks to taste Starvation would force you to steal from me Besides, what monk would would smoke a pipe and burn the tree, Pollute his air and kill himself? Here's another thing a monk won't do Go out at night and get in a stew Or use a gun, a club, or knife To take some other monkeys life Yes, man descended the ordinary cuss But brother, he didn't descended from us!
