Perseus embarks on a trip to obtain Medusa's head for King Polydectes in the story Perseus and Medusa. In the end, he saved Andromeda, and Medusa's head turned Perseus to stone, and Perseus was anointed King of Seriphos. However, things were different for Perseus in the beginning. Acrisius, a king, stepped in front of an oracle and listened to his fate. The Oracle foretold that his descendants will control a powerful nation through his daughter. It further stated that he had no sons, but that his daughter would bear a son, and that boy would be his demise. This revelation frightened Acrisius, and he went out to murder his daughter Danae.
