How did the generator repairman help philo in the boy who invented tv?

As Philo began finding ideas the old generator at his house kept breaking down. He enjoyed talking to the repairman who came to fix it. He learned enough to fix the generator himself. He shared his idea for a television with his girl friend she encouraged him to make it happen.
