Recently, an unmanned spacecraft studied the moon's craters. Surprisingly, the moon was found to have the coldest known places in the solar system. Pluto, which is billions of miles farther away, still gets some direct sunlight. However, the craters on the moon do not, resulting in a temperature around 400 degrees F (240 degrees C) below zero. The discovery of these spots is important. It suggests that there might be more water on the moon than scientists originally thought.
