2.1.9 Write: Prepare an Analysis 1. For the poems "When I Heard the Learn'd Astronomer" by Walt Whitman and "324" by Emily Dickinson, brainstorm a list of three important similarities and three important differences in their topics, attitudes, and use of poetic devices.

2. Fill in the blanks in the following sentence to create a draft of your claim, bearing in mind that the template is just a guide: Both here and when you include the claim in your full draft, you can play with the wording so that it fits what you want to say.

7. Write drafts of your body paragraphs. Whether you are doing a point-by-point or block comparison, your paper should include at least two body paragraphs. Also make sure that your body paragraphs include at least two quotes, with commentary from each poem.

8. Write a draft of your conclusion. Remember to point out your perspective on the topic and remind readers of your original claim.
