But you should not expect fame, fortune, power, and a life of ease and privilege. Some EEs do achieve those things, but not many. Most have a life of relative obscurity, above-average though not spectacular income, limited power over other people but pretty often supervising other engineers or leading projects. A life of ease and privilege is not often associated with being an engineer.
