How does Craig develop as a complex figure over the course of the passage? While he seems to be an easy-going young man who wants to please his family, Craig's chance encounter with a group of ad executives sends him off in a career that doesn't suit his personality.
At the beginning, Craig is content with the life that has been mapped out for him in the family business, but at the end his passion for advertising puts him on a new path.
Although he wants a stable job, Craig hasn't explored all of his options, but at the end he chooses a career path that has a lot of uncertainties.
Craig begins to see himself as a responsible young man on a stable path, but by the end he lets a chance encounter dramatically alter his life.
