Choice 2: A Crew Member’s Point of View The novel focuses on Charlotte Doyle’s opinion of her journey, time aboard ship, and the crew members she met there. While the novel shares a lot with the reader, it does not provide us with an even-handed description of anyone’s point of view other than Charlotte’s.
Create and perform a speech as a crew member to try to gain more insight into the events aboard the ship. You may want to be a particular crew member such as Zachariah or just be an unnamed crew member who observes and reports what he sees. You may focus on a particular event in the novel or perform snippets from several different events. Be sure to write your speech in the form of a play.
