Read the following passage from an essay. Then rewrite it using standard English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.

The rice paddies of China, the Philippines, and Japan is considered engineering feets of the ancient world. People have growed rice for thousands of years. About 2,000 years ago, rice growers in Asia began building terraced paddies. The terraces allowed the farmers to grow his rice on the sides of hills and mountains. These here terraced steps saved both space and water.

To water the rice, the farmers built a complex system of canals. The irrigation system is still used today. Water flows down the terraces, irrigating each field as it go. The young rice plants sits in fields with about six inch of water. As the rice matures, the guys can drop the water level. When the rice is ready, the ground is dry. Then the rice can be harvested nice and easy.
