The crisis in Somalia called for immediate solutions: feed
the hungry, provide shelter, and care for the sick. Long-term
solutions were equally important to prevent similar crises in
the future.
International organizations began developing systems
to manage drought and to stop desertification. They
recommended that drought-prone countries such as Somalia
improve the way they monitor droughts and share information.
Environmental organizations have worked to slow
desertification and improve agricultural productivity. One
effort has reduced the amount of charcoal exported from
Somalia. Another plan aims to introduce bee keeping to
help farmers increase their income and provide greater
food security
Aid agencies have provided farmers with seeds for growing
several crops, including corn, Farmers have also received
fertilizers and tools for improving their yield-the amount of
food they can grow per acre. Aid agencies have helped rebuild
roads and irrigation channels that were destroyed in Somalia's
civil war.

i have read the novel roll of thunder hear my cry by mildred d. taylor.

1. this isn't like any other story i've read or watched because it is about a black family in mississippi right after slavery in the u.s. had become illegal. most of the novels i have read were about slavery. another point is that the author of the novel used symbolism in a way i haven't seen before. for example she uses thunder as something negative meaning something bad will happen. but by the end of the novel, she made thunder a good thing.

2.   one character that changed during the novel was stacey. stacey is the eldest child of the black logan family. around the begging of the novel stacey was avoiding the white boy jeremy simms. he had a dislike for jeremy's family. but at the end of the novel stacey began to like jeremy.

3. the author starts the novel with the problem that the children of the logan family have to avoid the white kid school bus while walking to school.

halloween: it’s my favorite holiday

halloween is one of the best holidays for some people but it can also be scary for others. halloween is a holiday where some people believe spirits and soul of the dead that haven’t moved on will come back again to haunt the lives of the living. this is why many people dress up in costumes to disguise themselves as someone else. some people like us wish to be something that we would benefit in life from. like angels of god. some dress up just to be unique from the others. many families stay home and watch scary movies and others dress in their tremendous costumes and knock on each door to either get a trick or a treat.

personally everybody loves halloween because i could be someone else one day out of the year. it’s fun and entertaining, especially for kids. halloween also has a lot of history. many myths and beliefs say that witches and warlocks are alive and living among us. is this a trick or a truthful treat?

halloween may have secrets and scary things behind the door but we love halloween and it is beautiful to see how happy children are when each door opens full of treats and goodies. it makes everyone happy. happy halloween day.
