One internal conflict is the mental torture subjected to him in his inability to stay near his love, Juliet.

And the external conflict is the opposition from their families.

These two factors are still relevant in today's love stories of young people because of the emotional factor and also the family issue where most families/ parents would deem their children's partners or choices to be unsatisfactory or unacceptable.

One internal conflict in William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" is the dilemma of Romeo while he was exiled from Verona. He so dearly wishes to be with his wife Juliet but the exile ordered by the Prince prevents him from staying in Verona.

And an external conflict in this romantic tragedy is that the lovers cannot be together because of their families feud. Family opinions matter in all circumstances and are also a detrimental factor for their successful union. Though Romeo and Juliet have an undying love for one another, their family opposition ensures that they are not free to enjoy the love. This is evident in their secret marriage and also the plan to 'elope' by faking Juliet's death and planning for Romeo to 'steal' the body.

These two conflicts, be it internal or external, are still relevant in today's world because they also present the same conflict for lovers caught between families who do not approve of their love. Parents want the best for their children, and in that sense, they became more of an obstacle rather than be a supporter for whoever their children love or choose to be their partners. Youths today still encounter opposition from their families, and also restrictions/ obstacles for falling in love with 'the wrong guy'.
