UNIT 1 LAB Creating Your Pathway
Narrowing down the career cluster that interests you will give you a path to follow to help you reach your goals even while you’re still in school. For this lab, you will explore the suggested pathways for a few of the career clusters that are available to you.

Click on the link ‘Creating Your Pathway’ and look under the tab ‘Career Technical Education.’ Hover over ‘Career Clusters’ and a list of career clusters will open for you.

Choose one of the career clusters that sounds interesting to you. Once you click on that cluster, you will find several different careers available in that field. Choose one of the career pathways to analyze for this lab. (For example, if you have always been interested in police work, you would choose ‘Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security.’ Then you would choose a career pathway beneath that cluster. You might choose ‘Law Enforcement Services Pathway.’)

Click on the ‘Knowledge and Skills’ document for this pathway. Read the ‘Pathway Description’ to get an overview of what that career would entail. Finally, click on the ‘Plan of Study’ to find out what kind of educational path you would need to begin this career.

Once you have read both the ‘Pathway Description’ and the ‘Plan of Study,’ write two detailed paragraphs about the career you researched. Be sure to describe the purpose of this career, including a few possible jobs that would fit along this career pathway. Also, mention two unique courses that are suggested in this pathway’s ‘Plan of Study’ and explain why you think they would be beneficial in preparing for that career

Read the passage below and answer the question that follows. ‘you make me feel uncivilized, daisy,’ i confessed on my second glass of corky but rather impressive claret. ‘can’t you talk about crops or something? ’ i meant nothing in particular by this remark but it was taken up in an unexpected way. ‘civilization’s going to pieces,’ broke out tom violently. ‘i’ve gotten to be a terrible pessimist about things. have you read ‘the rise of the coloured empires’ by this man goddard? ’ ‘why, no,’ i answered, rather surprised by his tone. ‘well, it’s a fine book, and everybody ought to read it. the idea is if we don’t look out the white race will be—will be utterly submerged. it’s all scientific stuff; it’s been proved.’ in this passage, tom’s ideas about race relations come off as uncivilized. what literary device is fitzgerald using here?
