To Kill a Mockingbird Essay Overview: Harper Lee's classic novel To Kill a Mockingbird presents the
story of young children growing up in the rural south during the Great
Depression
. The reader sees the events of the novel through the eyes of
the young Scout Finch. Throughout the novel Scout tells us about the
mysterious Boo Radley and the events leading up to and after the false
conviction of an innocent African American man named Tom Robinson.
Through the thoughtful and careful presentation of these events, Harper
Lee was able to skillfully develop several important themes and ideas.
Directions: Choose ONE of the following prompts and write an essay of at
least five paragraphs the Write Way. Make sure to label which prompt you
choose with the prompt number written for the title of your essay. Prompt 3 Fully explain the theme about courage introduced in chapter eleven and how it it demonstrated by one or more characters in the novel.
