Read the passage. At the turn of the century, the American automobile was still young and could be driven by gasoline engines or steam. The whole course of
the industry would be influenced by a single event. In 1907 at Ormand Beach, Florida, the annual automobile speed trials were in progress. The
steamer started its run, silent except for a low whistle. The speed was rising fast when the steamer hit a bump and lifted, twisting into the air. It
traveled 100 feet through the air before it landed and smashed to pieces, causing the boiler to roll and blowing steam for a mile down the beach.
The rumor began that a steamer was just too fast to stay on the ground.
Which happened right before the steamer went up in the air?
01. The steamer traveled 100 feet.
O 2. The steamer rolled and blew steam for a mile down the beach.
O 3. The steamer hit a bump.
04. The steamer started its run and picked up speed.
