Why do you think writing is an effective way to convince others?

Writing lets us share our opinions with other people in an organized way. If we’re lucky, something we write can even convince someone to agree with us about issues important to us.

For example, when I was younger I wrote a letter to my parents. In it, I tried to convince them that I should be allowed to watch more TV. I included facts about how responsible I was with my time, such as getting an A in all my classes, doing my chores, and not getting into any trouble. I thought carefully about my words and put them in writing, with good examples as support. My parents were convinced and allowed me to watch TV for an extra hour every day.
