What can be inferred from this passage?
when babies are born, their brains are not yet fully developed. this is because if babies were able to process everything going on around them, they would very quickly become overwhelmed. even with this safeguard, babies can easily be overstimulated by their environment. because their brains cannot process too much at once, babies' brains do not process everything that their eyes see. that is, in the beginning, babies only see in black and white and certain shapes and colors. additionally, they can only see things within a certain distance of their face. when things are too far away, or too complicated, they appear only as blurs so that the baby does not get overwhelmed. therefore, if you have a new brother or sister, do not be offended if he or she does not make eye contact with you. the baby is only trying to adjust to life outside the womb.
