Plays, novels, essays, lectures
These are different literary genres. Plays are meant not only to be read aloud but also acted out on a stage. Essays and Lectures often explore a topic important to the author and use a variety of sources or anecdotes to support the idea. Novels are fictional books about any topic of the author's choosing. Traditionally novels have over 100 pages, multiple plot lines, and many characters.
