this is the hook/first sentence of my essay:
" , the lgbt community is discriminated against enough that people find the need to punish or harm the populace."
i need to fill the blank with a transition phrase. something like "even today." unfortunately, i can't use "even today," as it is obvious that discrimination is still going on.
