Read the excerpt. while i am i, and you are you, so long as the world contains us both, me the loving and you the loth, while the one eludes, must the other pursue. what do these lines, from ā€œlife in a loveā€ by robert browning, convey about the speakerā€™s pursuit of his beloved? eventually, they will switch roles, and she will chase him. he will try to win her love for as long as they are both alive. if they lived in a different time and place, he would not love her. they are meant for each other, and he is certain that they will be together.

What does the author see as the main cause for why students donā€™t really see shakespeare as a real, flawed human being? we shouldnā€™t shy away from discussing our literary heroesā€™ flaws. if nothing else, the knowledge of their failures us appreciate what success and greatness these authors did achieve. often our hero-worship keeps us from truly seeing the complexity of a great author. thus, i would argue, nothing would be better for high school students than to take shakespeare down a peg or two. a) the fact that students never learn enough about shakespeares biography b) the fact that students only read shakespeareā€™s comedies while in school c) the fact that students are never assigned to read any shakespeare while in high school d) the fact that students only read shakespeareā€™s greatest works in school and thus never see his weaknesses
